About The Position

Schnucks’ Intern Program is an immersive corporate internship based at our St. Louis, Missouri headquarters. Interns gain real-world experience in their designated department. This is a paid internship that requires full-time attendance during the summer and part-time availability during the school year with the potential of being hired immediately upon graduation. The 2026 Data Science Internship offers a unique experience by exposing interns to several areas within our Data Science department (focused on Machine Learning and Gen AI to support business requests). Our department has a peer/team oriented environment with one or more dedicated mentors per intern. This structure will provide the opportunity to work with other students from several other business programs. This exposure provides interns with invaluable practical work experience and will fast-track your professional business career! It's preferred that candidates reside in St Louis, Missouri metro area to be considered. If not, you must reside in either Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, or Wisconsin to be considered.

Requirements

  • Current 2026 enrollment in a Master’s Degree or PhD’s Degree program, preferably in Computer Science, Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, or Mathematics, and completed at least 30 credit hours.
  • Available to work part-time during the 2025-2026 school year and full-time through the summer (approximately 6/1/26 through 8/28/26).
  • Interest in Schnucks advancement post-graduation.
  • Knowledge and practical experience with data science methodology, such as machine learning.
  • Programming language knowledge with a focus on SQL and Python (or R).
  • Proficient in Google and Microsoft applications.
  • Motivated to learn and detail-oriented.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of six months employment with Schnucks preferred for Store/Facility Teammates.
  • Minimum of one year employment with Schnucks preferred for Store Support Center Teammates.
  • Must be in good standing (not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline).
  • If invited for an interview, must have manager approval based on performance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop innovative analytical models to solve one of the exciting and highly valuable problems by working directly with a group of data scientists.
  • Assist with model development and deployment, conducting predictive data mining to identify insights that drive action.
  • Develop presentation skills by giving regular presentations to data teams.
  • Assist in different work streams including automation, training, and change management.
  • Develop skills in state-of-the-art data mining tools like visualization tools, and advanced analytics in Google BigQuery.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.
  • Learn valuable workplace skills in a real-world environment.
