Inmar IntelligenceWinston-Salem, NC

About The Position

Inmar’s Summer Internship Program offers a dynamic and enriching experience designed to give students real-world exposure to a professional environment while contributing meaningfully to company initiatives. Interns will split their time between a high-impact cross-functional team project and department-specific responsibilities assigned by their direct manager. The MarTech Data Science team contributes to the design, development, and deployment of advanced data science and engineering solutions for Inmar’s media and incentives solutions. We are seeking an intern that can bridge data science and engineering to enable scalable, high-performance analytics products and ad-hoc analyses that leverage data for actionable insights. The Data Science Intern will collaborate across multiple teams including data engineering, business intelligence, product, and analytics, to build robust data pipelines, deploy machine learning models, and develop solutions that power predictive analytics. You will have the opportunity (and the expectation!) to leverage enterprise-level AI tools to help you in these projects. If you are the kind of person who gets told a problem is “unsolvable” and your first reaction is “Ok, how would I solve it?”, this is the team for you. Please note: This is an onsite internship based in our Winston-Salem, NC location and will require in-person attendance.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics with a concentration in Data Science, Data Engineering, or any related quantitative field with a strong emphasis on statistical programming and working with big data (e.g. Economics, Psychology, Computer Science, etc.).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in DML (SQL) and cloud systems (Google Cloud preferred, but AWS, Azure, Spark, etc., are all great). You'll be asked to solve complex, novel data problems; we will have a large library of queries, scripts, and routines for you to build off of, but you must be comfortable developing independently from there.
  • Proficiency in statistical programming languages and frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow/keras, PyTorch/torch) is required. Python is preferred for production-level code, but R or SAS experience is also great.
  • Proficiency in using AI for code enhancement and problem-solving, coupled with strong prompt engineering and responsible "human in the loop" practices for code validation and deployment. If you're already using AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, or Claude to write or refine code, you have the mindset we’re looking for.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Eagerness to learn and contribute in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Candidates must have authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in building modular, reusable components for data transformation, feature extraction, and model deployment using modern cloud technologies (Google Cloud Platform).
  • Contribute to the design and deployment of machine learning models and advanced analytics pipelines to deliver scalable solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders on the design of machine learning models and advanced analytics to deliver a range of ad-hoc solutions, with the ability to identify commonalities in requests and propose new products based on recurring themes.
