UL Standards & Engagement (ULSE) is seeking a motivated and dedicated Data Science & Engineering Intern to join our team for the Summer 2026. This 3-month internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a non-profit safety standards environment, contribute to meaningful projects, and develop valuable skills in research and analysis. UL Standards & Engagement: At UL Standards & Engagement (ULSE), we expand the boundaries of safety science to create a more secure and sustainable world. For more than a century, we have created new safety standards and shared our findings with academia, scientists, manufacturers, and policymakers across industries. Join us and work with our Standards teams who develop the standards required to put that knowledge into practice. What you’ll learn and achieve: As the Data Science & Engineering Intern, you will play a key role in the rapid growth of UL as you: Assist with standards and engagement projects related to industry mission and goals. This may involve document review, data collection, data analysis, and synthesizing information from various sources. Help collect and organize data using qualitative and quantitative scientific methods. Analyze data to draw meaningful insights and trends. Support in creating reports, presentations, and visualizations summarizing technical findings. Prepare materials for internal and external presentations. Work closely with the data science & engineering team and other departments to gather information, share safety science insights, and contribute to collaborative standards development projects. Assist in the coordination of standards development projects, organize, and maintain project documentation, including tracking progress and ensuring tasks are completed on time. Stay current with relevant literature, trends, and developments in the field to contribute valuable safety science insights to ongoing projects. Perform administrative duties as needed, including data entry, scheduling, and coordination of meetings .
