Data Science Engineer

AdobeSan Jose, CA
$109,000 - $200,700

About The Position

Project Graph is a new creative system that gives artists and designers real control and customization over their workflows at scale. It blends the best AI models with the capabilities of Adobe’s creative tools, such as Photoshop, inside a visual, node-based editor so you can design, explore, and refine ideas in a way that feels tactile and expressive, while still supporting the precision and reliability creative pros expect. We are looking for a Data Scientist to support analytics, data instrumentation, and insight generation for Project Graph. In this role, you will work closely with product managers, engineers, designers and senior data scientists to help measure system performance, usage patterns, and reliability, and to surface insights that inform product decisions. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working close to engineering systems, learning how large‑scale platforms are measured, and growing their impact within a collaborative, fast-moving environment.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in SQL and Python, with experience analyzing large datasets.
  • Solid foundation in statistics, including understanding of common pitfalls, bias, and basic experimentation concepts.
  • Familiarity with modern data workflows and AI tools (e.g., Git, notebooks, Databricks, Cursor, Codex etc.).
  • 3+ year’s experience building and maintaining dashboards using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
  • Experience with Adobe Analytics or similar web/product analytics tool.
  • Ability to work independently on well‑scoped problems while seeking guidance when needed.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to explain analyses in an accessible way.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., statistics, computer science, engineering, economics) or equivalent practical experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to analytics for developer platforms, infrastructure, or distributed systems.
  • Familiarity with event‑based or telemetry data.
  • Experience with experimentation or A/B testing in a product environment.
  • Interest in creative tooling, workflows, or graph‑based systems.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with product and engineering teams to help define and answer analytical questions related to Project Graph usage, performance, and reliability.
  • Build and maintain dashboards and reports that surface key metrics and trends for platform health and adoption.
  • Perform exploratory and deep‑dive analyses to identify patterns, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement in how Graph is used and executed.
  • Contribute to the design and validation of analytics instrumentation alongside data engineers and senior data scientists.
  • Help translate analytical findings into clear, actionable insights for both technical and non-technical collaborators.
  • Support experimentation and evaluation efforts (e.g., feature rollouts, performance improvements) with guidance from more senior team members.
  • Document analyses, assumptions, and methodologies to improve reproducibility and shared understanding.
