About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Data Quality Engineer to join a fully remote team focused on ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and consistency of enterprise data platforms. In this role, you will work closely with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to validate, reconcile, and monitor Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance data across ingestion, transformation, and reporting layers. You will develop and implement robust testing strategies, automate data validation processes, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. This position offers the opportunity to work with modern data platforms, cloud technologies, and advanced QA frameworks while having a direct impact on data trustworthiness, regulatory compliance, and decision-making within the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in the P&C insurance industry.
  • 3+ years of experience in data quality, testing, validation, or QA roles.
  • Strong SQL skills, including joins, aggregations, window functions, and complex reconciliation queries.
  • Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT testing and validating data transformations, lineage, and CDC processes.
  • Familiarity with automation scripting using Python, PySpark, or Bash.
  • Exposure to data testing frameworks such as Great Expectations, dbt tests, Deequ, or Soda Core.
  • Knowledge of cloud data platforms (Snowflake, AWS, Azure Synapse, GCP BigQuery) and structured/unstructured data formats (JSON, Parquet, XML).
  • Basic experience with Git version control and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with monitoring, governance, and BI/reporting tools (CloudWatch, Datadog, Collibra, Alation, Power BI, Tableau, Qlik).

  • Master’s degree and 4+ years of experience in P&C insurance data QA or validation.

Responsibilities

  • Define, maintain, and execute comprehensive data quality test strategies covering ingestion, transformation, reconciliation, and reporting layers.
  • Design and run test cases for P&C insurance data, including policies, coverages, claims, billing, and transactions.
  • Perform data reconciliation across enterprise systems such as PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, Claims, data lakes, warehouses, and reporting platforms.
  • Conduct ETL/ELT testing, validating source-to-target mappings, transformations, and schema compliance.
  • Implement data profiling and anomaly detection to proactively identify and resolve data issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to capture testing requirements, align on validation rules, and standardize QA practices.
  • Develop test documentation, regression suites, defect reports, and reusable frameworks for scalable and consistent QA processes.
  • Support automation initiatives using frameworks such as Great Expectations, dbt tests, or Soda Core.
  • Participate in data governance initiatives, ensuring compliance with SOX, financial reporting, and regulatory standards.
