About The Position

The Data Protection Specialist is the key role responsible for technical data compliance, including Trade Compliance, CUI, Export, and Intellectual Property classification. The role will collaborate to determine classifications/protection and train on compliant data transfers.

Requirements

  • 7 - 10 years' experience in either Trade Compliance, Intellectual Property, Controlled Unclassified Information, or Export Compliance experience.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Preferred proficiency in analyzing technical data including engineering drawings.
  • Extensive Classification experience.
  • In-depth understanding and experience with ECCN classification methodology.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making ability.
  • Proficient communication, organization, and prioritization skills.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Demonstrated skill in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Goal-oriented and able to work under time sensitive and demanding conditions.
  • Must be a U.S. Person (i.e. a lawful permanent resident of the U.S.)

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with ITAR, Department of Commerce Licensing, Customs regulations, EAR, Export & Licensing regulations, Oracle.
  • Experience collaborating across markets and functions.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the wheeled and tracked primary contact and liaison for technical Data Protection tagging within Teamcenter.
  • Assign classification of products using the EAR and the CCL, informed compliance publications, and company engineering materials.
  • Analyze technical data and articulate the appropriate HTS code as necessary.
  • Understand and interpret regulations impacting tagging, including Trade Compliance, Intellectual Property, Export Compliance, and Controlled Unclassified Information.
  • Assign Harmonized System (HS) tariff codes, Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCNs), and regional trade-related codes to primary and secondary products imported and exported.
  • Work with key internal stakeholders in the review of related data and agreements to ensure compliance.
  • Support various stages of audits and assessments.
  • Prioritize data tagging needs in the tagging workflow for all objects, ensuring timely classification based on need by date.
  • Collaborate with the Information Security function(s) to maintain records of all data assets and exports and maintain database.
  • Perform mass updates based on regulation changes to ensure security of data.
  • Apply appropriate data protection methods (projects and licenses).
  • Act as subject matter export for data transfers / secure collaboration.
  • Conduct departmental training as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
