About The Position

The School of Public Health division of Health Policy and Management is seeking applications for a full-time Data Programmer and Analyst (Research Professional 4 (8354DA)-Data Analytics). The person in this role will support multiple projects focused on improving the quality of long-term services and supports (LTSS), including nursing homes, assisted living, and home- and community-based services (HCBS). This position requires strong data management and collaboration skills. All work will be conducted in close collaboration with faculty investigator. The position also offers opportunities to contribute to peer-reviewed journal publications resulting from these analyses.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree with coursework in statistics, econometrics, or related field plus at least five years of relevant experience that must include at least 1 year of research experience (in academia, other nonprofit, or corporation) involving data preparation for statistical analysis; or a combination of education and education and relevant work experience to equal at least nine years.
  • Or a Master's degree in health services research, public health, statistics, economics or a related field plus at least three years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency with at least one statistical programming language (e.g. SAS, Stata, or R)
  • Experience working with healthcare claims data.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and consistent documentation practices when writing statistical code.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new analytical skills.
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrate effective communication with written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to convey complex statistical information into concepts and terms for the general public.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities across concurrent projects.
  • Particular interest in one or more of the following topic areas: long-term services and supports (nursing home, assisted living, home and community-based services), quality improvement, and applied policy research.

Responsibilities

  • Construct analytic databases from various data sources, including healthcare claims, surveys, and electronic health records.
  • Clean, merge, and prepare datasets for analysis, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with data use agreements.
  • Document data processes and maintain reproducible workflows.
  • Conduct statistical analyses, including descriptive statistics (tabular and graphical) and regression modeling.
  • Interpret and communicate analytic results in collaboration with research teams.
  • Develop and maintain annotated analytic code to ensure transparency and reproducibility
  • Design, implement, and maintain data infrastructure to support ongoing and future research projects.
  • Ensure data accessibility, security, and usability
