Overview As a Data Product Owner for our largest divisional dataset (Gallagher Global Brokerage (GGB) – US), you have an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and growing team. This is a unique opportunity to build an Agile Product Owner team that provides a comprehensive management and view of data products in a large, multinational organization. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join the AJG Enterprise Data Management team for the Data Products initiative. AJG’s insurance data is an integral part of the data landscape, providing insights and servicing to our clients. As a Data Product Lead, you will be responsible for driving the development and execution of our data products for the largest divisional dataset in support of Gallagher Global Brokerage – US region, ensuring they meet the needs of our organization and customers. You will collaborate with the broader corporate Insurance, Finance and HR data product teams, as well as cross-functional team members, including analysts, data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders, to define product requirements, prioritize features, and deliver high-quality data products. This role involves significant cross-functional collaboration. You will work in tandem with the IT, Corp Analytics, Finance, HR, Operations, and other internal partners to populate the insurance data warehouse with high quality data. Key Performance Metrics: # of enhancements to existing platform, usage of the data sets, quality & completeness metrics on critical data elements (CDE)

Requirements

  • Expertise in insurance, brokerage and/or financial products strongly desirable
  • Proven experience as a Data Product Owner, Data Product Manager, or similar role in an enterprise data environment.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience working with enterprise data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Azure, AWS, Oracle, or similar).
  • Strong working knowledge of SQL and comfort engaging in technical discussions with data engineers and architects.
  • Experience with: Data warehouses and data lakes, ETL / ELT pipelines, Data modeling (logical, physical and semantic data modeling) and data mapping,
  • Strong understanding of data management practices, including data privacy protection, data quality, data architecture & modeling.
  • Backgrounds in data architecture, data engineering, or data modeling, with a transition into product leadership, are highly desirable.
  • Holds experience working both independently and in a virtual, collaborative environment is essential. Comfortable working in a matrix management model with stakeholders and virtual teams across global locations
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex requirements into actionable product specifications.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and deliver high-quality results.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels and present to groups and external stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as data engineering, computer science, data science, or business analytics preferred. A master's degree is a plus.
  • Experience with tools such as Snowflake, Power BI, Collibra, and related enterprise data technologies.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau) and techniques is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Define and prioritize the roadmap for our US GGB data products, aligning with the overall business strategy and goals.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and understand their needs, translating them into clear and actionable product specifications.
  • Work closely with data scientists and engineers to ensure the successful development and delivery of data products, ensuring they meet high quality standards and deliver on time.
  • Lead a high-performing Agile data product team, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the team's success in delivering high-quality data products, while promoting a collaborative and innovative culture within the team.
  • Leads the completion of change management activities across functional partners and ensures adherence to the organization’s risk, controls, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Understand the data needs to design and implement the data architecture and data model for a scalable data driven product organization.
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify trends and opportunities in the data product space, ensuring our products remain competitive and innovative.
  • Leads end-to-end product delivery processes including intake, dependency management, release management, product operationalization, delivery feasibility decision-making, and product performance reporting, while escalating opportunities to improve efficiencies and functional coordination.
  • Manage "program/feature" dependencies across multiple teams, scrum teams, functions, divisions, and stakeholders.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and impact of our data products, making data-driven decisions to drive continuous improvement.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all data product-related inquiries, providing guidance and support to internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the analytics, finance, HR, and operational teams to develop internal strategies for leveraging the data products.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in data management, bringing new ideas and best practices to the team.
  • Grow and lead a high-performing data product management team. Provide mentorship, coaching, and professional development opportunities to team members to foster a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Is consulted by the Collective Lead & business stakeholders of a given feature set in the prioritization process for key initiatives / features and the creation of epics / feature breakdowns created by the Collective Lead
  • Responsible for refining features and creating user stories to elaborate the needs for functional additions, enhancements, or defects prioritized for work within a given set of sprints
  • Responsible for the clear articulation of definition of done within a user story as acceptance criteria
  • Responsible for backlog grooming and refining priorities within sprints / releases
  • Responsible for presenting user stories as part of sprint planning and in support questions and further information needed by the squad to meet the entry criteria for a story
  • Responsible for providing demonstrations of platform features to the Collective Lead and other stakeholders outside the feature team
  • Collaborates with the Scrum Master and Technical Lead in ensuring that epics and user stories are tagged with estimates
  • Collaborates to fine-tune delivery approaches to meet the defined sprint goal
  • Responsible for participating / collaborating in key agile ceremonies – daily stand-up, sprint reviews, and retrospectives – as fits with the squad’s established cadence and approach to running agile
  • Responsible for accepting the user stories and work items of their assigned squad and providing actionable feedback on stories that don’t meet acceptance criteria
  • Champion within their Division / Business Unit on Agile Ways of Working and participates in working sessions across the organization to accelerate agile adoption and improve on best practices
