About The Position

The Data Privacy Specialist supports enterprise-wide privacy compliance by partnering with cross-functional teams to embed data protection requirements into products, processes, and contracts. You will manage key privacy operations—including data mapping, Data Protection Impact Assessments, system maintenance, and data subject requests—while driving process improvements, training initiatives, and alignment with evolving global privacy laws. This role plays a critical part in strengthening the company’s privacy posture and maintaining customer trust.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of privacy/data protection experience
  • Strong understanding of global privacy laws, including DPR, ePrivacy Directive, CCPA, LGPD, Privacy Act of 1988 and PIPEDA, POPI South Africa
  • Working knowledge of the EU Data Act, EU AI Act, and NIS2
  • Track record of project management and privacy compliance program ownership and driving risk management activities across cross-functional teams and business functions at a large, complex organization.
  • Strong understanding of global privacy landscape & laws and how this applies in technology, and online businesses
  • Experience operationalizing and/or managing privacy requirements
  • Knowledge of compliance management standards, tools, methodologies, and best practices
  • Technical understanding of how to implement data protection & privacy obligations within a business including data governance
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and great attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational skills, client-service oriented, and able to handle multiple requests with differing priorities and stakeholders
  • Experience with TrustArc, OneTrust, or similar systems
  • Demonstrable drive to build a successful career in data privacy and grow with the company as it continues to expand globally
  • Team player with ability to operate independently, react with appropriate urgency to situations and events that require a quick response or turnaround, have great judgment in ambiguous situations, and take effective action without having to know the total picture

Nice To Haves

  • CIPM, CIPP, or similar certification is preferred but not required
  • Ability to speak French or an EEA language is not required but is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders across business, product, engineering, legal, HR and compliance teams on privacy-related matters
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to facilitate the inclusion of appropriate Data Privacy Acts and contractual clauses
  • Work with various product teams across the company on the technical implementation of privacy compliance including data mapping, and Data Protection Impact Assessments
  • Maintain privacy compliance system to ensure privacy compliance requirements are met
  • Respond to data subject requests
  • Strong project management experience and agility across businesses, incl. relationship with external counsels if need be
  • Support continuous process improvement and simplification efforts, including developing and publishing privacy guidelines, compliance standards, best practices, checklists, and guidance
  • Help develop and deliver privacy training for enterprise
  • Support the Privacy team, the Legal team and Products with any other privacy activities as may be required from time to time
  • Follow the developments of global privacy laws, customer expectations, and regulatory guidance to identify and communicate key trends and to protect customer trust
