We are looking for a hands-on Data Platform Engineer to join UBS Group Technology in the build-out and implementation of our firms Enterprise Data Mesh to make a step change in the management of data in our bank. The role involves building an enterprise data mesh linking our data, ensuring Data Architecture for IT enables transition to real-time access to data, and instituting a 'knowledge-as-a-service' approach - allowing management of the technical landscape.

  • Ensure Data Architecture for IT enables transition to real-time access to data.
  • Institute 'knowledge-as-a-service' approach - allowing management of the technical landscape.
  • Strong hands-on programming languages like Python on cloud.
  • Well versed in implementing Python code using object-oriented principles, functional programming & data structures.
  • Good knowledge on SQL query implementation and database concepts.
  • Knowledge around working with data storage technologies open table formats like delta lakes, iceberg.
  • Experience in implementing REST APIs in Python or other programming languages.
  • Experience working in database technologies including RDBMS and NoSQL.
  • Able to quickly understand the requirements and implement required technical solutions.
  • Great track record delivering hands-on development and design of data platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with Spark & SQL technologies.
  • Exposure to cloud development with Azure and/or AWS.
  • Experience building modern solutions (Kafka data streaming, Azure cloud-native).
  • Experience delivering solutions for Data Analytics users of e.g. Tableau, PowerBI.
  • Financial Services background is advantageous, but not mandatory.
