About The Position

The Data Platform Administrator is responsible for ensuring Marvin’s cloud data platform runs smoothly, securely, and efficiently. This role focuses on the day-to-day health of core data tools, primarily Snowflake, dbt, and Fivetran, to ensure they are reliable, well-governed, and cost-effective. This is an operations-first role, not a solution design role. The administrator will work closely with Data Architects, Data Engineers, and Analytics teams to support analytics, reporting, and data pipelines, while also contributing to the platform's scalability as data capabilities expand.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience supporting a modern cloud data platform in a production environment.
• Solid understanding of Snowflake fundamentals, including warehouses, databases, schemas, roles, and usage monitoring.
• Comfortable supporting tools like dbt and Fivetran from an operational standpoint.
• Understanding of how data pipelines and analytics workloads behave.
• Ability to manage access securely, troubleshoot performance and reliability issues, and think critically about cost optimization.
• Collaborative, with clear communication skills for technical and non-technical partners.
• Comfortable working across engineering, analytics, architecture, and governance teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience.
• 2–4 years of experience supporting cloud data platforms or analytics ecosystems.
• Working knowledge of SQL and modern analytics tools, sufficient to support and troubleshoot platform usage.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently while thriving in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience supporting BI and analytics tools (such as Power BI).
• Experience supporting enterprise data warehouses or analytics platforms, especially in complex or manufacturing environments.
• Experience with ELT/ETL pipelines and data transformations using dbt or similar tools.
• Familiarity with modern data engineering practices like version control, code reviews, and environment promotion.
• Interest in growing over time into more hands-on data engineering and pipeline support work.

Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor the core components of the data platform across development, test, and production environments.
• Configure environments, maintain platform settings, and ensure performance, availability, and reliability for users and downstream systems.
• Administer Snowflake, including managing databases, warehouses, roles, access controls, and resource monitors.
• Monitor usage and costs, tuning warehouse sizing and scaling to balance performance and spend, and partnering with finance and platform stakeholders.
• Support the operational aspects of dbt and Fivetran, monitoring jobs and connectors, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with Data Engineering to resolve pipeline failures or performance problems.
• Enforce role-based access controls, support audits and reviews, and work with Data Governance and Security teams to ensure platform configurations align with enterprise policies.
• Collaborate with data and analytics partners to help teams use the platform effectively, share best practices, contribute to documentation and runbooks, and support BI and reporting workloads.
