The Data, Planning and Usability Analyst at Kansas State University will lead strategic planning, data analysis, and usability/user experience initiatives. This role involves providing data support for the Libraries and the university community, ensuring timely collection and reporting of library statistics, and collaborating with various teams to enhance decision-making processes through effective data management and visualization.

  • Track progress on the K-State Libraries' strategic plan and collaborate with the communications and marketing department to visualize and report progress.
  • Participate in the K-State Libraries strategic leadership council and the strategic planning steering committee.
  • Analyze institutional data and communicate impact and benchmark reports to library staff and the campus community.
  • Create and maintain tools for instruction to faculty and staff about data, statistical analysis, and research strategies.
  • Participate in data warehouse planning, focusing on automated or batch collection of routine data.
  • Coordinate responses to external requests for Libraries data, including directories and surveys.
  • Coordinate the Libraries' participation in national library data-collecting initiatives.
  • Coordinate usability assessment activities to improve the Libraries' online presence.
  • Bachelor's degree and one to three years of relevant experience.
  • Master's degree in library/information science or comparable terminal degree in data analytics or data science (preferred).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of issues, trends, and technologies related to academic research and research data management.
  • Training or experience with data management and research impact metrics.
  • Experience training researchers and students in computational data skills.
  • Demonstrated skills in data analytics and visualization tools and methods.
  • Knowledge of strategic planning, usability, user experience, library assessment, or AI literacy.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Experience teaching Carpentries workshops.
  • Familiarity with library assessment methodologies.
