Whole Foods Market is hiring for a Data Operations Analyst to support accurate, timely, and actionable data that drives decisions across our business. This role is responsible for managing product and departmental data, ensuring integrity across systems, and delivering clear analysis to support operational improvements. This role is based in Austin, TX, with an expectation of being in the Store Support office five days a week.

  • Provides meaningful reports and analysis relating to sales, margins, losses, expenses and associated business processes.
  • Understands, extracts, validates, corrects, and defines data from multiple internal and external sources.
  • Assesses data quality, troubleshoots data anomalies and coding errors, maintaining data and reporting integrity.
  • Collaborates with other data and merchandising analysts to prioritize and define data and associated analytical requirements.
  • Joins data elements from various resource systems and builds datasets accordingly.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally to ensure data-driven insights are understood and applied to business, operational and other process improvement efforts.
  • Updates and enhances existing reports and creates / modifies dashboards to help users better understand business and operational metrics.
  • High school diploma and 4+ years' relevant experience.
  • Associates degree, technical college or some college course work preferred.
  • Understands and applies data operations concepts, principles and practices.
  • Able to perform routine to moderately complex data analyses.
  • Working knowledge of standard data analysis tools, such as SAS, SPSS or Teradata warehouse miner.
  • Understands and applies statistics to data mining and analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and listening.
  • Understands necessity of tailoring communication to meet audience needs.
  • Able to communicate highly technical subjects in a manner that is easily understood by non-technical audiences.
  • Establishes work priorities and deadlines based on assignment / project requirements.
  • Determines how best to organize and complete assignments.
  • Solves problems with ambiguous and sometimes incomplete information.
  • Works on non-routine or novel assignments.
  • Understands how and when to deviate from standard protocol.
  • Mentors and advises less experienced Team Members on how to analyze problems and complete assigned tasks.
  • Able to understand WFM's and supported region / stores business objectives.
  • Demonstrates keen interest in Organics, Fair Trade and the Natural Foods industry.
  • Develops understanding of the WFM business and management processes, product mix, supply base and retail operations.
