About The Position

The Data Network Consultant position at Entergy is responsible for ensuring the stability and integrity of the data network environment. This role involves planning, designing, implementing, and operating network components across the organization, with a focus on supporting business requests and maintaining network performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • 6+ years of relevant experience for IT Consultant; 10+ years for Sr. IT Consultant.
  • 3+ years' solution design experience is a plus for IT Consultant; 5+ years for Sr. IT Consultant.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of networking protocols, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and network management tools.
  • Strong understanding of routing and switching technologies, as well as network security technologies.
  • Proficient in routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, IS-IS) and other networking features.
  • Strong understanding of IP addressing design.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in financial management of project deliverables.
  • Experience as the technical lead for major implementation and/or network projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree is a plus.
  • Cloud networking and automation/scripting tools experience is a plus.
  • IT certifications such as CCNA/CCNP for IT Consultant and CCNP/CCIE for Sr. IT Consultant are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide detailed network designs in support of business requests, including routing, switching, load balancer, DDI, and wireless technologies.
  • Develop implementation plans for change requests.
  • Participate in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of network hardware and software.
  • Create and maintain documentation related to network configuration and processes.
  • Oversee and implement equipment upgrades and new installations.
  • Conduct research on network products and standards.
  • Develop and maintain policies and training plans for network administration and disaster recovery.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for network services.
  • Respond as the Data Network representative in an on-call rotation to resolve emergent issues.
  • Work with Business and Project Management teams to review strategies and requirements.
  • Capture business capability and functional requirements to create an actionable IT-Networking roadmap.
  • Support infrastructure leadership in identifying opportunities for emerging technologies.
