About The Position

This position will serve as a Data Modeler supporting Program Finance. The successful candidate will analyze data, develop and maintain processes, programming applications, reports and dashboards that combine data from multiple sources. The position is responsible for application maintenance and new query development, as well as new or improved tools for internal and external analysis heavily utilizing visualization tools such as Power BI. The successful candidate will support and maintain current Earned Value Management report generation and support future growth opportunities to current systems through data management and Power BI visualization. Work requirements may include, but are not limited to: Query and report against numerous Electric Boat business systems Metric development to include definition or interpretation of requirements, knowing where and how to mine relevant data, application programming, query writing and creation of reports and charts for meaningful output Responsible for fixing any internal reports that are not running properly Develop, program, and implement solutions to improve data integrity and interfaces with legacy systems Support data mining requirements for EVMS Surveillance findings Develop ad-hoc reports and metrics as required to mine data and chart shipyard operational performance Responsible for creating and executing report changes to improve information provided and report generation cycle time Building and maintaining data models for Power BI reporting

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Engineering, Mathematics, Management, or a Computer Sciences field (Information Science, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Data Science, etc.) and/or 2+ years of programming experience.
  • 1+ years of experience programming skills with SQL and DAX (Power BI)
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, power query, data connections, etc.)
  • Proficiency with the entire Microsoft Office Suite
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills for design, creating, and testing of programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to successfully interact with all levels of management
  • Very high attention to detail
  • Strong logical thinking
  • Adapts easily to change and can quickly react to a shift in priorities
  • Strong commitment to meet deadlines and complete assigned tasks

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with project management principles (PERT, MS Projects, Agile, Gantt charts etc.)
  • Experience designing SSAS tabular data models and/or ETL processes
  • Experience with Visual Basic
  • Experience managing data in multiple environments (SQL Server, Oracle, IBM Mainframe)
  • Experience with production metrics, KPI’s or financial reporting
  • Experience with process improvement and technical documentation
  • Experience with Materials Management, Procurement, MRP, ERP or industrial warehousing processes
