Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska is a Partner of Choice for the Nebraska University System. Our Interns work a hybrid schedule and spend some days working on-site at our Omaha office located in Aksarben Village. Therefore, you will need to live within commuting distance from June 1, 2026 - July 31, 2026.

Requirements

  • Be enrolled full-time in college pursuing a degree (preferably in Management Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Business Administration).
  • Desire for growth and advancement in the area of Data Analytics, Data Science, and Governance.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Intellectual curiosity and willingness to learn.
  • A positive attitude and desire to have fun at work.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced experience in Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of Power BI, R, and/or SQL.
  • Interest in AI/ML concepts such as supervised learning.
  • Familiarity with Python, Databricks, and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
  • Curiosity about ethical AI, model interpretability, and responsible data use.

Responsibilities

  • Apply artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to real-world data problems using modern platforms like Databricks Genie.
  • Build and deploy machine learning models using Python, Spark, and ML flow within Databricks.
  • Explore generative AI capabilities and integrate them into analytics workflows.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to enhance predictive analytics and automation.
  • Deliver health data analytics and informatics for groups, providers, members, and internal leadership.
  • Use data to solve puzzles and tell a consistent data story using technologies such as Power BI, R, Excel, and SQL.
  • Learn about and apply principles of data governance, including enforcement of data management standards and documentation of metadata.
