Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and three years experience in Health Information Management or health care environment.
  • HIM Credential may be accepted in lieu of experience.
  • Previous experience with health information management systems such as Cerner, Epic, Sovera, Healthquest or Sectra.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates problem resolution of patient Admission, Discharge, Transfer (ADT) information from registration systems to ensure consistency between these systems and the Emory Electronic Medical Records (EeMR).
  • Coordinates with all source system administrators to alert them to ADT issues and advise on necessary corrections.
  • Manages and executes patient identity tasks including patient updates, demographic updates, and reconciliation of patient records.
  • Monitors and replies to all communication sent to the Making Data Healthy team in-basket and Service Now queue.
  • Communicates with customers via e-mail, phone calls, in-basket messaging, and Service Now updates.
  • Maintains assigned daily Epic work queues, keeping tasks within established metrics.
  • Facilitates potential and linked patient records in EMPI work queues.
  • Accesses patient legacy records to research patient encounter history and identity documentation.
  • Uses critical thinking to understand issues and appropriate resolutions.
  • Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for the EMPI maintenance and facilitation of Patient Identity functions for all Emory Healthcare.
  • Ensures compliance with EHC IS, EHC, Joint Commission, and HIPAA guidelines, Patient Privacy, policies, and procedures.
