The Data Integration Manager at the University of Washington is a leadership role responsible for supervising a team of data engineers. This position focuses on ensuring the proper integration of information from various sources into the University Advancement data ecosystem. The manager will develop end-to-end solutions utilizing expertise in data modeling, ETL processing, data quality assurance, and cloud-centric data management, while fostering a culture of belonging and collaboration within the team.

  • Supervise a team of data engineers, setting priorities and distributing work aligned with organizational goals.
  • Communicate program status and constraints clearly to leadership.
  • Provide professional and technical mentorship to early-career professionals within the team and organization.
  • Understand business problems and develop a solution framework, reducing complex problems into actionable work items.
  • Manage processes that move data in bulk between systems and manage data architecture to maximize data utility.
  • Develop ETL workflows that blend human and automated components; respond to ETL-related issues and errors.
  • Monitor the quality and accuracy of data being integrated into systems-of-record; identify and prioritize data quality issues to fix them.
  • Develop and promote coherent and reliable data standards.
  • Ensure security protocols are applied while working with data to ensure access by authorized users only.
  • Collaborate with and advise technical and non-technical stakeholders on data management best practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Four years of experience in data integration, ETL management, or related roles.
  • Proficiency in Data Management technologies, including MS SQL Server (MSSQL) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
  • Experience utilizing and managing MS Azure cloud computing services related to data storage and processing.
  • Familiarity with project management and source control software.
  • Strong project management, analysis, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working in a large, dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
  • Knowledge of alumni relations/development/advancement principles.
