About The Position

The Data Impact Lead transforms complex environmental and social data into clear, actionable insights that guide Starbucks coffee and cocoa sustainability strategy toward continuous improvement. They embed the MEL framework currently in development into sustainability programs and projects ensuring evaluation and learning is integrated and routinely used to inform decisions. They advise and support internal and external teams responsible for data tracking, ensuring information is consistent, credible and meaningful. Ultimately, they help the coffee and cocoa sustainability team communicate impact with clarity and integrity.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in sustainability analytics, MEL or data-driven program evaluation, managing multiple projects and collaborating effectively across diverse cross-functional and cross-cultural stakeholders.
  • 5+ years leading social or environmental impact programs and projects and/or leading strategy programs, projects, and cross functional teams
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience working with large, complex datasets and applying both descriptive and inferential methods. This includes data modelling, cleansing and wrangling and familiarity in using AI for data analysis.
  • Excellent communicator and systems thinker, with proven ability to simplify complexity for varied audiences, recognize patterns, and uphold high standards for accuracy and responsible data use.
  • Experience in creating a culture of learning through embedding MEL practices, building MEL capacity in teams, assessing program outcomes and supporting structured learning.
  • Proficient in SQL, Python/R, Excel, Power BI, and Tableau, including building dashboards and compelling visual narratives.
  • 4 year bachelors degree required (masters preferred)

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience in international agriculture and global supply chains, with a practical understanding of data-collection challenges across diverse geographies and sourcing models and familiarity with agriculture-specific data solutions.
  • Knowledge of key sustainability areas, including carbon accounting, regenerative agriculture, responsible sourcing, and human-rights due diligence.

Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with our Compliance & Reporting Specialist, support and advise partners responsible for data tracking to ensure data reliability and consistency.
  • Partner with internal teams and external partners to establish governance and documentation, data pipelines, and system architecture across all coffee and cocoa sustainability program related data.
  • Strengthen the team’s capacity for sustainability analytics through development of training, tools, and documentation. This includes leading development of dashboards and self-service tools that make content leads self-proficient.
  • Facilitate learning cycles across sustainability, Farmer Support Center and sourcing teams, helping partners reflect on results, adapt approaches and share insights.
  • Translate coffee and cocoa sustainability program data—quantitative and qualitative—including farm level implementation data, into analysis and recommendations that inform decisions, surface risks and opportunities, strengthen programs and track progress against goals, including through creating compelling visuals
  • Specifically take the lead on compiling data and narrative for the annual Starbucks Impact Report, coordinating across internal teams and external partners to ensure accurate and engaging reporting that reflects our global coffee & cocoa program.
