The Data Governance Engineer III is a senior-level position that leads the development and implementation of complex software solutions for data governance initiatives. This role designs and implements advanced technical aspects of data catalogs, quality checks, and governance tools, and mentors junior team members.

  • Leads development and implementation of software solutions for data governance initiatives.
  • Leads the design, development, and maintenance of advanced software solutions for data governance.
  • Implements and optimizes complex automated workflows for data quality, metadata management, and policy enforcement.
  • Designs and manages sophisticated APIs for integrating data governance tools with enterprise systems.
  • Develops and implements advanced data lineage tracking and impact analysis processes.
  • Creates advanced scripts and tools for data profiling, anomaly detection, and reference data management.
  • Leads the implementation of complex data masking and anonymization techniques.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to design and implement technical solutions for challenging data governance issues.
  • Works closely with data application teams and product owners to design and implement data governance solutions that provide insights to make better decisions.
  • Assists in the coordination of data governance processes with information security, legal, risk and compliance processes.
  • Monitors external trends and recommends best practices for data governance.
  • Ensures compliance with data protection regulations and best practices.
  • Provides mentorship to the engineering team influencing the architecture and direction of data governance solutions.
  • Partners with platform and business teams to ensure compliance with data governance policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university required in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in software development or data engineering, with a focus on data governance.
  • Advanced coding skills in SQL and Python, knowledge of additional languages a plus.
  • Extensive experience with SaaS platforms and their integration.
  • In-depth experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Azure, AWS).
  • Proven track record of leading technical projects in data governance.
  • Proven experience with data governance tools and platforms, (e.g., data catalogs, data quality, data classification, data observability, data lineage and master data management).
  • Experience creating data governance metric dashboards and presenting data governance metrics to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Good analytical and time management skills.
  • Must be organized, detail oriented, and able to multi-task.
  • Adept at crafting clear messages and delivering them effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Certifications in relevant technologies and methodologies preferred such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), Certified Data Governance Professional (CDGP).
  • Knowledge of insurance industry preferred.
