PURPOSE OF THE JOB The Data Governance Engineer II is a mid-level position responsible for actively developing, implementing, and maintaining software solutions for data governance initiatives. This role independently implements technical aspects of data catalogs, quality checks, and governance tools.

  • Develops and implements software solutions for data governance initiatives.
  • Designs, develops, implements, and maintains software solutions to support data governance initiatives.
  • Implements automated workflows for data quality checks and metadata management.
  • Creates and manages basic APIs for integrating data governance tools with other systems.
  • Develops scripts and tools for data profiling and anomaly detection.
  • Implements data masking and anonymization techniques for sensitive data.
  • Contributes to data lineage tracking and impact analysis processes.
  • Collaborates with team members to implement technical solutions for data governance challenges.
  • Assists with ensuring data quality, protection, and compliance across the organization.
  • Participates in the evaluation and implementation of data governance technologies.
  • Contributes to data governance and data quality best practices.
  • Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university required in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in software development or data engineering.
  • Proficient coding skills in SQL and Python.
  • Demonstrated work experience with SaaS concepts.
  • Practical experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Azure, AWS).
  • Knowledge of data governance tools and platforms, (e.g., data catalogs, data quality, data classification, data observability and data lineage).
  • Good analytical and time management skills.
  • Must be organized, detail oriented, and able to multi-task.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Office environment – no specific or unusual physical or environmental demands and employees are regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, and hear.
  • Data Governance Certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of insurance industry preferred.
