About The Position

We are currently seeking a Data Governance Analyst who will report to the Data Curation Lead within the ODGA. This role is crucial for curating metadata, developing end-to-end data lineage diagrams, building and maintaining business glossaries, authoring data quality rules, and performing other data governance functions required by the ODGA and Analytics. Requirements

  • 3-5 years of dedicated data governance experience with demonstrated, hands-on proficiency in metadata curation and management, developing end-to-end data lineage diagrams, building and maintaining business glossaries, and authoring data quality rules and validation checks
  • Experience with a metadata management or data catalog platform (e.g., Microsoft Purview, Informatica, Alation, Collibra)
  • Experience with SQL and an understanding of data and systems' infrastructures
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude to get things done
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data governance frameworks, policies, and best practices (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK)
  • Familiarity with data governance roles and responsibilities within a government or enterprise context
  • Ability to coach and mentor agency data stewards on data governance best practices
  • Ability to continually meet requirements of the Conflict-of-Interest Act
  • Ability to pass a fingerprint background check
  • Ability to sign and adhere to the Confidentiality Statement

Nice To Haves

  • Azure and/or Data certifications
  • Experience in a big-data environment or data security
  • Experience with data quality profiling tools or platforms (e.g., Collibra DQ, Informatica Data Quality, Alation)
  • Familiarity with data quality dimensions (completeness, accuracy, consistency, timeliness)
  • Previous experience with Power Platforms

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining and administering the Commonwealth’s Business Glossary
  • Supporting the identification, implementation and consumption of metadata and data modelling tooling
  • Developing and maintaining end-to-end data lineage diagrams that trace data from source systems through transformation and consumption
  • Supporting and contributing to the creation and maintenance of data models
  • Authoring data quality rules, thresholds, and validation checks against critical data elements
