West Monroe is seeking a Data Engineering Lead to set and execute data engineering strategy across multiple products within our Intellio asset portfolio, within the Office of the Chief AI Officer. This role establishes technical direction and ensures the delivery of scalable, secure, and high-quality data platforms aligned to business and product goals. This role demonstrates enterprise-level impact through strategic leadership, cross-portfolio influence, and people development. The Data Engineering Team Lead partners with Product, Engineering, and Business leaders to align data investments to firm priorities, enable downstream consumption, and mature firmwide data capabilities. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience required.
  • 10+ years of experience in data engineering, data platform development, or related technical roles.
  • 5+ years of experience leading senior engineers, technical leads, or engineering managers.
  • Proven experience defining and executing data engineering strategy across multiple platforms or portfolios.
  • Deep expertise in modern data architectures, cloud-based data platforms, and data pipeline orchestration.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise data quality, governance, security, reliability, and cost management practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence technical standards and architectural decisions across teams.
  • Experience partnering with Product, Engineering, and Business leaders to align technology investments to strategic outcomes.
  • Track record of developing technical leaders and building high-performing engineering organizations.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and executive stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Data Engineering Strategy & Architecture
  • Define, evolve, and operationalize data engineering strategy, architecture, and standards across multiple products and the asset portfolio overall.
  • Work with IT to ensure we collectively adhere to firmwide architectural patterns, tooling standards, and engineering best practices.
  • Provide senior technical leadership on the Intellio Labs team through architecture reviews, design guidance, and risk management.
  • Platform Delivery & Operational Excellence
  • Own technical direction and delivery oversight for complex, cross-product data platforms and modernization initiatives.
  • Own roadmap, architectural decisions, and technical debt prioritization for shared data platforms.
  • Ensure scalability, reliability, security, and cost efficiency across data platforms.
  • Establish and maintain operational practices that support long-term platform sustainability.
  • Act as escalation point for critical data platform incidents, ensuring root cause analysis, remediation, and long-term reliability improvements.
  • Data Quality, Governance, & Security
  • Design and enforce data quality monitoring, governance frameworks, and access controls for critical data assets.
  • Ensure consistent application of enterprise data standards, security policies, and compliance requirements.
  • Reduce risk through proactive oversight of data integrity, reliability, and platform health.
  • Business Enablement & Adoption
  • Enable scalable, secure consumption of trusted data for analytics, AI, and business use cases.
  • Drive adoption of standardized data platform, tools, and architectural patterns by downstream teams, products, and clients.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Business leaders to align data platform investments to firm and client priorities.
  • People Leadership & Capability Development
  • Directly manage and develop a team of senior and mid-level data engineers, including hiring, performance management, and career development
  • Build and sustain high-performing teams with strong technical, delivery, and leadership capabilities.
  • Establish clear expectations for technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
