Our work depends on a Data Engineer Manager joining our program to lead an Operational Data Store team of engineers, to work proactively, collaboratively, and with an entrepreneurial spirit in providing engineering and O&M support to the customer and their Stakeholder communities in achieving their critical missions. Requirements

  • Education: BA/BS or equivalent
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience
  • Technical skills: experience managing the development and/or maintenance of all life cycle phases in Data Warehousing project(s); experience performing or managing O&M of on-premise or cloud-hosted, federal IT enterprise systems; database experience (Oracle and DB2 on-premise); experience with AWS GovCloud data storage/management service(s) (Redshift, EC2, RDS, Aurora, S3, Quick Sight, VPC); experience administering or managing data migration and transformation tools (ETL/ELT tools on-premise, Informatica, Glue, DMS); and experience administering or managing Data Manipulation tools (SQL, Athena)
  • Security clearance level: Public Trust (DHS HQ EOD required to start; must be able to obtain DHS HQ Final Suitability)
  • US citizenship required
  • Role requirements: work location - any CONUS home/remote; adept at problem-solving, troubleshooting, collaboration, time management, multi-tasking, and task-ownership/leadership; and excellent oral and written communication skills, organization and documentation skills, and requirements analysis skills.

Nice To Haves

  • technical team management in a data center/O&M contract, and a proven ability to manage remote staff, documentation efforts, and data migration, data transformation and/or modernization projects
  • degree in computer engineering, computer science, information systems, or related field of study
  • experience with AWS GovCloud, Informatica ETL software, Oracle & Redshift databases
  • experience in DevOps and Agile development and/or methodologies

Responsibilities

  • Manage engineers engaged in design, development, test, and maintenance of on-premises and cloud solutions focused on data capture, transformation, validation, and distribution/reporting/publishing
  • Collaborate with teams to transform data and integrate models into automated processes
  • Work with stakeholders including program, product, data, and design teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support data infrastructure needs
  • Manage team’s production O&M support, scheduled, on-call 24x7 support
  • Engage program staff and other OBIM contractors on support needs
  • Communicate project and work status to senior program leadership and customer
  • Proactively identify and propose solutions to improve existing system architectures
  • Schedule staff to obtain proper response in a timely manner.
  • Enjoy working in a learning environment, with a small team that must be enabled to mitigate skill and knowledge gaps between team operations and/or responsibilities, on a periodic basis.
  • Understand the criticality of knowing and teaching the business operations, supporting systems, and underlaying data to the team.
