About The Position

The Data Engineering Manager leads a team of data engineers responsible for designing, building, and optimizing data pipelines and architecture across the organization. This role partners closely with analytics, product, and IT teams to ensure data is accessible, reliable, secure, and aligned with business goals. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with leadership skills to drive data strategy and delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related fields.
  • 5–8+ years of experience in data engineering or software engineering.
  • 2–4+ years of experience leading or managing technical teams.
  • Strong expertise with modern data technologies (e.g., SQL, Python, Spark, Kafka).
  • Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Deep understanding of data warehousing, ETL/ELT, and distributed systems.
  • Handson experience with CI/CD, DevOps, and infrastructure-as-code tools.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data engineers through coaching, goal setting, and performance management.
  • Build a high performing team culture focused on collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage resourcing, hiring, onboarding, and workload prioritization.
  • Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of scalable ETL/ELT pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes.
  • Establish and enforce data engineering best practices, including coding standards, testing, and version control.
  • Partner with data architects to define and evolve data models and data platform architecture.
  • Ensure high availability, reliability, and performance of data systems.
  • Implement monitoring, alerting, and incident response practices for data pipelines.
  • Drive optimization of data processes to improve cost, performance, and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with analytics, business intelligence, machine learning, product, and engineering teams to understand data needs.
  • Translate business requirements into technical data solutions.
  • Ensure data quality, governance, and security standards across all data assets.
  • Contribute to long-term data strategy, platform modernization, and cloud migration initiatives.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and tools to enhance the data ecosystem.
  • Align engineering efforts with organizational objectives and roadmap priorities.
