The Role: Our site in Chaska, MN is seeking a/an Data Engineering Intern to join our team for the Summer 2026 season. This assignment is intended to be 12-14 weeks in duration. Our team is looking for a Data Engineer Intern to join our team. The Data Engineer Intern is responsible for designing, implementing and supporting systems for collecting, storing and analyzing data for our big data analytics cloud platform to meet short, medium and long-term digital transformation and enterprise initiatives. The Data Engineer Intern specializes in working in a variety of settings building solutions to collect, manage and convert raw data into usable information for data science and analytical purposes. In this role, you will serve as a technical engineer utilizing tools (e.g., Python), data ingestion, testing, and deployment of data to the Google Cloud Platform to enable our digital transformation strategy and harness the value of data systems strategy, needed to advance manufacturing operational excellence, customer engagement.

Requirements

  • Familiar with relevant languages such as Python, R, XML, JSON, and SQL
  • Familiar with APIs such as REST
  • Fundamental understanding of data models, data mining and segmentation techniques
  • Great numerical and analytical skills
  • Familiar with AI and LLMs
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Business discipline
  • Graduation date of fall 2026 or later
  • Must be a currently enrolled student
  • Available to work 40 hours a week, M-F (8a-5p) beginning in mid-May/June through August/September.
  • Must be familiar with the universities requirements to participate in an internship program

Responsibilities

  • Work with business experts and IT Business Analysts to understand functional requirements and interact with other cross-functional teams to design, develop, test, and release features.
  • Analyze and organize raw data into datasets for business needs.
  • Build data systems and pipelines
  • Develop algorithms to transform data into useful, actionable information
  • Interpret trends and patterns
  • Help provide analytic support with BI and Data Science technologies
  • Ensure compliance with data governance and security policies
  • Be a member of Agile Scrum teams with planning, scoping and creation of technical solutions for the new product capabilities, through to continuous delivery to production.
  • Engage with business stakeholders to understand required capabilities, integrating business knowledge with technical solutions.
