About The Position

Accelerate LineVision's data platform modernization while building hands-on experience with cloud-native data engineering in the energy sector. The successful Data Engineering Co-op will support the migration of LineVision's data infrastructure to our modernized cloud platform, working directly with our Platform Engineering team to consolidate databases, migrate data pipelines, and modernize our data architecture. Requirements

  • Proficiency in SQL to write queries for validating data migrations, troubleshooting schema inconsistencies, and ensuring data integrity across environments
  • Python skills to debug migration scripts, automate data validation tasks, and build data quality checks
  • Experience with AWS cloud services (S3, Glue, Athena) to replicate data pipelines, test migrations, and support business intelligence infrastructure
  • Understanding of basic data engineering concepts to work with dimensional data modeling, database design, and layered data architecture
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with Quality, Finance, Sales, and Leadership teams on data requirements and migration validation
  • Technical documentation ability to capture migration processes, create validation scripts, and build reference materials for the team
  • The ideal candidate would be available for a minimum of 6 months, up to the full 8 month co-op term, working 40 hours a week.
  • LineVision has a standard US holiday schedule, and up to a week of additional unpaid time off is permissible.

Responsibilities

  • Migrate approximately 400 database tables from legacy environment to modernized data infrastructure using AWS DMS and schema migration scripts
  • Build and test data migration pipelines to consolidate internal datasets from multiple sources (Jira, HubSpot, NetSuite)
  • Replicate AWS Glue jobs, crawlers, and Athena tables in the modernized environment to support business intelligence needs
  • Add partitions to fact tables and validate data integrity throughout the migration process
  • Document migration processes and create validation scripts to ensure data quality across environments
