About The Position

Comprehensive Healthcare provides innovative behavioral health and integrated healthcare services to clients of all ages. As part of our Information Services team, the Data Engineer/DBA is responsible for building and operating reliable data platforms and mission-critical databases. You will own the data pipelines end-to-end, ensure performance and resilience of OLTP and analytic systems, and collaborate across engineering, analytics, and business teams to deliver high-quality, governed data. This role blends data engineering (pipelines, orchestration, modeling) with some DBA responsibilities (performance tuning, backups, security, HA/DR, ideal for some who thrives on both building and operating robust data systems. This is an on-site position Monday to Friday 8am - 5pm in our Yakima office with no opportunity for remote work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field and 2+ years of Data Engineering and/or DBA roles (or equivalent skills), in healthcare preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines ingesting batch and streaming data from varied sources (APIs, files, databases, event streams)
  • Develop data models (3NF, star schema/snowflake schema, Dimensions and Fact tables) and curate datasets for analytics and BI
  • Implement orchestration and job scheduling (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Fivetran, SSIS)
  • Optimize Performance to support analytics, queries, storage, pipelines
  • Enforce data quality via validation checks, unit tests, and anomaly detection
  • Develop Success Metrics KPIs (Pipeline reliability, Data quality, Performance, Availability, Delivery, Cost efficiency)
  • Monitor and tune query performance, indexing strategies, execution plans, memory/IO utilization
  • Capacity planning, storage management, lifecycle policies, and cost governance
  • Security and compliance: PII, PHI handling, HIPAA, auditing frameworks and experience with encryption. (Data at Rest and “Always Encrypted” technologies)
  • Document data lineage, metadata, and semantic definitions; contribute to a data catalog
  • Contribute to roadmap planning; propose architecture improvements and modernization initiatives
  • Advocate for best practices for coding standards, version control, CI/CD, and testing within the IS Team and greater organization
  • Partner with application teams on schema design and with analytics teams on semantic layers/BI
