About The Position

The Data Engineer designs, develops, and maintains data pipelines and data processing solutions supporting U.S. Government programs. This role focuses on building reliable, accurate, and secure data workflows that enable analytics, reporting, and operational decision-making across learning management systems. The position is hands-on and execution-focused, working with structured and semi-structured data in regulated government environments.

Requirements

  • Secret clearance (active or ability to obtain clearance)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data analysis, or software development roles.
  • Strong experience developing data pipelines using Python and SQL.
  • Experience working with enterprise data systems in regulated or government environments.
  • Strong understanding of data quality, validation, and transformation techniques.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Data Science or related field.
  • Experience supporting DoD or Federal civilian agency programs.
  • Familiarity with financial, acquisition, or operational data domains.
  • Experience working with legacy systems or limited-API environments.
  • Databricks Certified Associate Developer for Apache Spark
  • Databricks Certified Data Engineer Professional

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain end-to-end data pipelines to ingest, transform, validate, and publish data from multiple enterprise and operational data sources.
  • Implement data processing workflows to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and availability for downstream reporting and analytics.
  • Design and maintain datasets that support dashboards, reports, and operational tools.
  • Integrate data from financial, program management, and operational systems.
  • Cleanse, normalize, and validate data to meet quality and reporting requirements.
  • Perform record-level validation and reconciliation across source systems.
  • Support identity and reference data validation using DoD enterprise data sources (e.g., EDIPI via GDS).
  • Monitor and maintain data pipelines to ensure reliability and timely delivery.
  • Troubleshoot data quality, performance, and integration issues.
  • Update and maintain datasets used in mission-critical applications.
  • Provide analytics-ready datasets to support reporting and dashboard development.
  • Support financial and operational reporting requirements through accurate data modeling and pipeline execution.
  • Respond to ad hoc data requests from program and government stakeholders.
  • Implement data solutions aligned with Performance Work Statement (PWS) requirements.
  • Produce technical documentation describing data sources, transformations, and outputs.
  • Support auditability and traceability of data used in government reporting.
