The Role: We’re looking for our first Data Engineer to build and optimize production-grade data pipelines. This role will focus on designing and implementing scalable data infrastructure that accelerates analytics and improves data quality and observability. Success in the role will be defined by: Productizing customer reporting workflows into J2 application features Architecting high-scale ingestion pipelines capable of handling the massive data volumes required by our newest enterprise partners Reducing time from raw data ingestion to customer impact Improving data observability and testing capabilities This is an NYC-based role (in-person work expected 3 days per week).

Requirements

  • Production experience with both columnar data warehouses and transactional databases, and knowledge of underlying data structures to design tables and tune queries on both
  • Experience with dbt
  • Experience with batch processing of large amounts of data
  • Familiarity with orchestration tools like Dagster and Airflow
  • Great Python engineering practices and opinions on how to get the most out of LLM coding tools
  • 3-5 years of data engineering experience and comfort working across a Python-based application codebase
  • Experience working in a small, cross-functional team

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain data architecture to facilitate the extraction, storage, and transformation of raw data
  • Collaborate with and power up analysts, data scientists, and software engineers
  • Ensure data observability, quality, and integrity throughout the pipeline
  • Optimize and tune existing data pipelines for improved performance, reliability, and scalability
