Our team of Data Engineers, Business Intelligence Engineers, and analytics leadership builds scalable data infrastructure powering the employee journey from day one through their career. We support 1.5M+ Amazonians globally through robust data architecture, pipelines, and warehouse solutions that enable data-driven decision making. With our highly collaborative and fast-moving culture, we're seeking talented Data Engineers passionate about building large-scale data solutions to enhance the Amazon employee experience.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of data engineering experience
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
  • Experience with SQL
  • Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions
  • Experience with non-relational databases / data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases)
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of large data solutions for Amazon's proprietary talent products
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and implement appropriate data models
  • Develop and maintain efficient ETL processes and data pipelines
  • Implement data quality controls and monitoring systems
  • Create and optimize physical data models for performance and scalability
  • Establish data governance standards and best practices
  • Build automated data validation and testing frameworks
  • Design and implement data security controls and access patterns
  • Optimize query performance and data storage efficiency
  • Stay current with the latest data engineering tools and methodologies, continuously improving the team's capabilities and efficiency
