Tenaska, Inc. is looking to hire a Data Engineer position in Omaha, Nebraska. The position will develop and maintain professional quality data pipelines to meet business and technical requirements in Microsoft Azure Cloud. Extract datasets from our proprietary trade capture systems for ingestion into our analytical platform. Design and develop new facts and dimensions for our hybrid Kimball-method dimensional data warehouse. Deliver compelling visualizations and reporting, providing new insights to the business using industry tools such as Power BI and Tableau. Build end-to-end analytic solutions in the natural gas and power sectors directly with business owners with minimal supervision. Maintain our use of Microsoft SQL Server columnstore technology using efficient partitioning and index strategies. Optimize and monitor our Delta Lake Parquet storage on our enterprise analytical platform with Z-Order, V-Order, and statistics maintenance. Actively engage in recurring meetings with business stakeholders. Share responsibility of after-hours support of the entire data warehousing ecosystem. Continuously develop professional skills, evaluating new trends and technologies. Reliable, dependable, and predictable attendance is a requirement.

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or related information technology field and any amount of professional experience with, or academic exposure to, standard ETL tools such as Microsoft SSIS and Informatica, SQL development, designing and developing complete analytical solutions in Tableau, Power BI, SSRS, and Excel, delivering data integration solutions from conception to completion, Agile sprint project management practices, and exhibited ability to present technical solutions in business terms.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or related information technology field and 2 years’ experience working with standard ETL tools such as Microsoft SSIS and Informatica, SQL development, designing and developing complete analytical solutions in Tableau, Power BI, SSRS, and Excel, delivering data integration solutions from conception to completion, Agile sprint project management practices, and exhibited ability to present technical solutions in business terms.
