About The Position

Blizzard Entertainment is looking for a talented new Data Engineer to join our revenue reporting team! This engineer will work under the guidance of senior data engineers on monthly global revenue close and reconciliation reporting tasks, as well as process improvement, automation, building up the knowledge base, and ad hoc data requests. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of ETL process development with very large transactional financial data sets. The team is primarily responsible for maintaining data integrity for accounting and financial reporting purposes and reports to the controllership group. This role is anticipated to be 100% work-from-home. The potential home studio for this role is Irvine, CA. However, we understand each person’s circumstances may be unique and will work with you to explore all possible options.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience working with object-oriented programming languages (preferably Python)
  • 3+ years of experience in ETL development, process design, and administration.
  • 2+ years of experience working with relational databases (preferably Oracle) and data warehouses (Bigquery, Snowflake, etc)
  • 2+ years of experience using data orchestration tools (Airflow, Dagster, etc)
  • Experience with cloud providers and their product offerings (preferably GCP and Azure)
  • Technical understanding of data modeling, design, architecture principles, and techniques
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD, infrastructure as code
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interpret and present data to various audiences with non-IT/programming backgrounds
  • A Champion for Blizzard’s core values, especially “Commit to Quality”

Nice To Haves

  • Solid understanding of accounting processes SOX, and monthly revenue cycles is a plus
  • Some experience managing dashboard tools (Tableau, Looker, etc) for stakeholders
  • GitHub personal repo with tasks and projects worked on
  • Passion for video games

Responsibilities

  • Writing and maintaining python code data pipelines in google cloud composer, AWS and Azure
  • Compile, transform, and distribute data from various sources (SFTP, API, cloud storage, etc) to local and international teams
  • Collaborate with engineers and PMs to onboard/maintain payment gateway providers
  • Migrating legacy processes and data pipelines from enterprise tools to cloud
  • Gather data to assist internal and external auditors with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) audit requests
  • Maintain change logs, review QA documentation, submit and verify monthly code Change Requests
  • Build up and maintain knowledge base in Confluence by interacting with teams like Battle.net, Accounting, Tax, and Internal Audit
  • Participation in ad hoc projects as needed
