About The Position
The Data Engineer builds and administers data workflows in IMC’s evolving, modern big data environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in computer science or engineering, information technology, or similarly quantitative technology field and six (6) months of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
- Six (6) months experience in data engineering, systems engineering, or similar in a high-throughput, big data ecosystem
- Six (6) months experience in building and administering data workflows using Hadoop, Spark, and SQL, including troubleshooting and root-cause analysis
- Six (6) months experience in developing streaming data applications using Kafka
- Six (6) months experience in developing and extending data solutions in containerized environments (Docker or Kubernetes) using Java, Python, or common data-science toolkits
- Six (6) months experience in Unix scripting (Bash, tcsh, zsh, and Python)
Responsibilities
- Develop and extend in-house data toolkits based in Python and Java.
- Build data pipelines using big data tools including Hadoop, Kafka, Spark, and AWS.
- Work with our trading and research teams to develop data solutions.
- Assist in identifying solutions that match the problem space and harmonize with our internal data platform.
- Improve the performance of financial analytics platforms built around the big data ecosystem.
