Extraordinary Projects need Exceptional Talent Description: Tutor Perini is seeking an early-to-mid career Data Engineer to join our Data, AI, and Reporting Technologies (DART) team. This role focuses on building and optimizing data pipelines and models within our Microsoft Fabric Medallion architecture to deliver trusted, scalable insights across the enterprise. You will work closely with data stewards, architects, and business stakeholders to ensure data flows efficiently from ingestion to reporting layers, supporting our Document, Integrate, Govern (DIG) strategy and enabling AI readiness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field.
  • 2 + years of experience in data engineering or analytics.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Hands-on experience with development and data modeling.
  • Proficiency in SQL, dbt, and/or Microsoft Fabric components (Pipelines, Dataflows, Notebooks).
  • Familiarity with Power BI and semantic modeling.
  • Understanding of data governance principles (metadata, lineage, classification).
  • Strong problem-solving and architecture development skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to Azure Data Factory, Azure DevOps, and standard development practices.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Purview for governance and compliance.
  • Proficiency in Python, PySpark, and M Query.
  • Familiarity with Medallion architecture and data mesh concepts.
  • Certifications: DP-700 (Fabric Analytics) and DP-600 (Power BI) (highly preferred, not required).

  • Pipeline Development: Build robust data pipelines that enable real-time insights and accelerate decision-making across the enterprise.
  • Data Modeling: Design optimized schemas that power accurate reporting and analytics for critical business operations.
  • Governance Alignment: Register datasets and pipelines in Purview to ensure compliance and maintain trust in enterprise data assets.
  • Performance Optimization: Implement best practices to deliver faster queries and scalable solutions that support growing business needs.
  • AI Readiness: Design and optimize data pipelines and models to ensure datasets are structured, clean, and accessible for advanced analytics, machine learning, and emerging AI applications.
  • Business Alignment: Collaborate with stakeholders to understand challenges and create data-driven solutions that solve real business problems.
  • Compliance: Apply Tutor Perini’s classification and retention policies to protect sensitive information and reduce regulatory risk.
  • Continuous Improvement: Monitor pipeline health and proactively enhance architecture for greater efficiency and reliability.
