About The Position

The Data Engineer position at Halliburton's Sperry Drilling Services involves leading the execution and performance of geological and drilling data collection on-site. Requirements

  • Completion of an undergraduate degree in Geology.
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant field experience and completion of on-the-job development activities.
  • Demonstrated technical aptitude to required standards.
  • Good communication skills, arithmetic, data entry, and recording skills.
  • Successful completion of company tests or task guideline requirements.
  • Current and valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Offshore experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the lead position responsible for job execution and overall performance for geological and drilling data collection.
  • Ensure adequate supplies and equipment are present at the well site at all times.
  • Offer advice on equipment capabilities.
  • Gather accurate logging information including Depth, Gas Units, Composition, Rate of Penetration, and Lag Time.
  • Interpret logging information to determine the occurrence and composition of oil and/or gas shows during drilling.
  • Analyze and document findings according to SDL zone of interest and/or show reports.
  • Provide lithological descriptions of formations drilled and identify formation names, groups, or members.
  • Assemble mud logging information into mud logs and drilling databases following established guidelines.
  • Communicate mud logging information to customers as necessary, including morning reports and show notifications.
  • Perform specialized tests or gather additional data as required by the customer.
  • Gather, assemble, and ensure timely delivery of cuttings samples as per customer requirements.
  • Maintain transmittal sheets and perform safe rig-up and tear-down when needed.
  • Ensure smooth transitions during crew and shift changes.
  • Complete necessary training appointments to obtain required safety and operational certificates.
