About The Position

As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining our enterprise-scale data pipelines. You will focus on commercially facing analytics-development projects, typically involving large, complex data sets. Projects will include input from statisticians, computer scientists, software developers, engineers, product managers, and end users, working in concert with partners in Baker Hughes business units.

Requirements

  • Have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a "STEM" major, or related field.
  • Have 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering.
  • Have proven expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Strong knowledge of data pipeline and workflow management tools, especially Apache Airflow.
  • Experience with big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, etc.) and SQL/NoSQL databases.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and think algorithmically.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a knack for mentoring and guiding team members. Bi-lingual Spanish-speaking a bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and robust data pipelines on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Utilizing Airflow or similar tools to schedule and monitor data workflows.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into data solutions.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement and quality initiatives as well as innovative approaches and solutions to business problems.
  • Optimizing existing data systems for efficiency and performance.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues that arise during the data lifecycle.
  • Developing and enforcing best practices for data engineering and pipeline management.
  • Delivering technical support and maintenance for AL/ML models deployed for Baker Hughes' digital product.
  • Implementing Data warehouse & Big/Small data designs with automated MDM and data quality capabilities.
