About The Position

Chewy is seeking a Senior Data Engineer for the Marketing Customer Engagement Platform team. This role involves building and managing the technology stack that supports Customer Relationship Marketing, focusing on developing high-performing data pipelines to deliver personalized messages to customers across various marketing channels. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, with a focus on data quality and experience in building APIs.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in Data Engineering or Business Analytics roles with ETL, Data Modeling, and Data Architecture.
• Expertise in crafting and implementing enterprise data pipelines using tools like Docker, Glue, Snowflake, Redshift, Kafka, and Athena.
• Strong skills in dimensional data modeling (Star, Snowflake) and ER modeling.
• Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code with Terraform and AWS ecosystem.
• Proficiency in SQL and one of Java or Python.
• Experience with version-controlled code (GitHub).
• Ability to present insights and summarize data through visualizations.
• Self-starter with initiative to drive projects independently.
• Experience collaborating with various parts of the company.

Nice To Haves

• Some experience with API development.
• Some experience with technologies like GraphQL and graph databases.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain complex data ingestion pipelines and transformations for data from multiple sources.
• Assist in crafting proof of concepts and mentor other data engineering and analytics professionals on data standards.
• Catalog and document data sources.
• Supervise data pipelines for accuracy and ensure all data is processed accurately and timely.
• Build containerized applications with microservices architecture.
• Reconcile data issues and alerts between systems, driving innovation and improvements.
• Collaborate with multi-functional partners to define and document requirements for data products.
• Create operational reports using visualization/business intelligence tools.
