The Expedia Cyber Security team is dedicated to ensuring that Expedia Group remains a safe, trusted, and secure platform for travelers and partners. As part of this mission, our Security Software Engineering team is seeking a talented Data Engineer III to lead and evolve the Security Data Warehouse. In this critical role, you'll be a subject matter expert, driving innovation and optimization of our data infrastructure to support security analytics, compliance, and risk management.

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable data pipelines to ingest, process, and transform data from multiple sources for analytics and reporting.
  • Create and maintain efficient, accurate, and scalable data models.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate diverse data sources across platforms and systems.
  • Design and optimize data warehousing solutions to ensure performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
  • Build advanced SQL-based ETL workflows to clean, transform, and load data into data warehouses or other storage systems.
  • Leverage tools such as Hadoop, Spark, and related technologies to process large-scale datasets.
  • Work with tools like AWS Redshift, EC2, SQS, and massively parallel processing (MPP) databases (e.g., Redshift, Teradata, Netezza, Oracle Exadata).
  • Implement data quality checks, monitor pipelines, and resolve data discrepancies.
  • Identify opportunities for performance tuning and cost optimization in data workflows and storage systems.
  • Maintain clear and thorough documentation of data pipelines, schemas, and processes.
  • Partner with data scientists, analysts, engineers, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver robust data solutions.
  • Uphold data governance, privacy, and security standards in accordance with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior data engineers and team members.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, with proven expertise in Data pipeline development, Advanced SQL-based ETL and Data modeling.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL.
  • Hands-on experience with big data technologies, data warehousing and cloud platforms particularly AWS (Redshift, EC2, SQS, Querybook etc).
  • Effective communicator, capable of working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • 1+ year experience working with rest API's and AI/ML technologies.
