About The Position

Join Walmart as a Data Engineer III, where you will design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and models to support business analytics and decision-making. This role requires expertise in data transformation, integration, and modeling within cloud and big data environments. You will collaborate across functions to ensure data quality, governance, and accessibility while applying advanced programming and analytical techniques. Your contributions will enable the effective use of data assets to drive strategic insights and operational improvements, supporting Walmart’s commitment to innovation and excellence in data management. The SiteTraffic360 team drives key initiatives including Traffic Instrumentation Standardization & Automation, TrafficSense Portal, SSOT, GenAI feature launches, GEP Marketplace, One, and Prism. This team focuses on delivering critical data engineering solutions to support analytics, performance, and advertising data needs. Members collaborate to develop and maintain scalable data pipelines, ensure data quality, and implement advanced data transformation and modeling techniques. The team leverages expertise in big data technologies such as Apache Spark and Kafka to enable efficient data integration and processing, supporting business objectives and enhancing data-driven decision-making across multiple domains.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in data engineering, including data transformation, modeling, and ETL processes.
  • Proficiency in SQL and programming languages such as Java, Python, or similar for code development and testing.
  • Strong knowledge of big data technologies including Apache Spark and Apache Kafka.
  • Understanding of data governance, data quality frameworks, and regulatory requirements related to data privacy and security.
  • Ability to design and implement scalable data models and pipelines within cloud and big data environments.
  • Experience supporting business analytics through effective data sourcing, integration, and validation techniques.
  • Demonstrated capability to collaborate cross-functionally and communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related field.
  • Option 2: 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related field.
  • Option 3: Master's degree in Computer Science.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to support business analytics and reporting needs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify data requirements and translate them into efficient data models and architectures.
  • Extract, transform, and integrate data from internal and external sources, ensuring data quality and consistency.
  • Implement and optimize data storage solutions using cloud platforms and big data technologies such as Apache Spark and Kafka.
  • Analyze complex data flows and system integrations to propose effective solutions and improvements.
  • Develop, test, and deploy code to automate data processing and support data governance standards.
