As a Data Engineer at Ziff Davis Shopping, you’ll help drive the evolution of our data architecture, enabling data-informed experiences across our diverse portfolio from Retailmenot.com, VoucherCodes.co.uk, Offers.com, BlackFriday.com, and more.

  • Build & lead the design and implementation of scalable data pipelines and ETL frameworks.
  • Collaborate with technology, analytics, and product teams to define data capture strategies, build end-to-end solutions, and validate their reliability.
  • Maintain and evolve data APIs to support both existing and greenfield product initiatives.
  • Architect and model data for reporting, analytics, and semantic-layer consumption.
  • Implement proactive data quality checks and monitoring systems to safeguard data integrity.
  • Support BI solutions, ensuring coherent semantic models are available for analysis and reporting.
  • Integrate emerging technologies into our data stack, keeping our infrastructure modern and competitive.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering teams to deliver complex, high-quality features.
  • Design and validate test cases alongside QA/test management to guarantee reliability.
  • Provide operational support, including participation in on-call rotations and production troubleshooting.
  • 5+ years of data or application engineering experience, with strong proficiency in SQL and Python scripting.
  • 3+ years of experience in cloud platforms ideally AWS.
  • Worked with Airflow (2+ years) and Snowflake (2+ years).
  • Experienced with RDBMS technologies such as MySQL, Redshift, and Snowflake.
  • Solid grasp of computer science fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
  • Familiar with engineering workflows using tools like Git, JIRA, and CI/CD, and understand DevOps practice.
  • Built systems capable of processing large-scale data and are comfortable in distributed environments.
  • Experience with BI/reporting implementations and modeling semantic layers.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills, with the ability to document technical designs clearly.
  • Collaborative, eager to both teach and learn, and committed to maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Containerisation experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Hands-on experience with PySpark for scalable data pipelines.
  • Familiarity with dbt for data transformation and modelling.
  • Exposure to Fivetran or similar ingestion tools.
  • Knowledge of AWS services such as S3, SQS, SNS, and Athena.
