The Update Platform Team impacts billions of customers every day - our team is responsible for ensuring the seamless delivery and integration of software updates and keeping our customers up-to-date and secure at all times. As a member of the Update Platform Insights team, you will be at the forefront of leveraging data to assess the quality of the product, detect issues before they reach broad customer application to assure top product quality for partners and customers alike while keeping billions of devices secure and up-to-date. In this exciting Data Engineer II role, you'll work with a diverse group of talented professionals, innovate for greater platform efficiency as well as leverage the latest technologies and best practices to streamline our update processes with timely in-depth insights and intelligent features.   • Apply modification techniques to transform raw data into compatible formats for downstream systems.
  • Utilize software and computing tools to ensure data quality and completeness.
  • Implement code to extract and validate raw data from upstream sources, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
  • Drive product quality improvements through data and insights.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to document and understand data requirements.
  • Evaluate project plans to assess data costs, access, and availability.
  • Draft design specifications to model data flow and storage.
  • Follow data modeling and handling procedures to maintain compliance with all applicable laws and policies.
  • Apply operational fundamentals to validate and ensure quality of the product and underlying data pipeline.
  • Focus on customer happiness and success.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years experience in business analytics, data science, software development, data modeling or data engineering work OR Master's Degree in the same fields AND 1+ year experience.
  • 2+ years experience in roles focused on quality, including quality assurance, automation engineering, or data-driven quality assurance.
  • 2+ years Industry experience with building large data processing frameworks using technologies like Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Explorer, PowerBI.
  • 2+ years experience with scripting and coding languages like SQL, KQL, python, Scope, C#.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years experience in business analytics, data science, software development, data modeling or data engineering work OR Master's Degree in the same fields AND 3+ years experience.
  • 4+ years experience in roles focused on quality assurance or data-driven quality assurance.
  • 4+ years Industry experience with building large data processing frameworks.
  • Experience with Quality and validation strategy design.
  • Experience with customer listening systems.
  • Experience with Git, ADO or equivalent Source Control Systems.
