The Leidos Digital Modernization Group seeks a Software Developer with a data background to support the Global Management Systems (GMS) Team for the Global Solutions Management - Operations II (GSM-O II) contract. This contract includes the Operations, Sustainment, Maintenance, Repair and Defense of the Defense Information System Network (DISN) within the DOD Information Network (DODIN) in support of the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). It also includes support to other key tasks for DISA, including the transformation of DISA's operational mission through innovation, and support to DISA's mission partners. Candidate must be within driving distance of Scott AFB IL or Fort Meade MD. This position will be onsite a minimum of two days per week. At a minimum, a Secret clearance is required upon the start of employment and within 14 days following the start date the employee must obtain their Security + certification.

  • Develop Kafka system integrations between Elasticsearch/Logstash and other systems.
  • Deploy, configure, test, troubleshoot, and maintain updates/upgrades of Kafka and Elastic clusters and environments.
  • Develop automated CI/CD build/deployment pipelines using Jenkins, Artifactory, Kubernetes, Docker, Ansible, and Bitbucket.
  • Develop automated tests using Ansible, Selenium, JMeter, JUnit, and related tools.
  • Collaborate with an Agile team, participate in daily scrums, and demonstrate working software while coordinating with a geographically distributed team.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve installation, infrastructure, and system issues.
  • Independently report, monitor, and mitigate technical risks.
  • Communicate and collaborate with team members to ensure successful completion of project objectives.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical discipline and 4+ years of related experience (coursework and internships included).
  • Proficiency in software development with Python, Java, and SQL; working knowledge of JavaScript/HTML.
  • Experience with Git/Bitbucket and UNIX command line development.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering principles and the full software lifecycle (design, development, test, deployment).
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerized environments (Kubernetes, Docker), and DevOps practices.
  • Experience with data integration and distributed platforms such as Kafka, Elastic, Spark, and NiFi.
  • Experience with Kafka connectors, custom connector development, and working knowledge of ksqlDB/Kafka Streams.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools.
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with geographically distributed teams.
  • Ability to obtain interim Secret DoD Security Clearance prior to start date.
  • Ability to obtain Security+ (or equivalent DoD 8570 IAT II) certification within 14 days of start date.
  • Experience designing, developing, testing, and deploying applications in Python, JavaScript, Java, and SQL.
  • Familiar with Kibana visualizations and dashboards, including leveraging machine learning capabilities and React.
  • Familiar with AI/ML techniques, predictive analytics, and robotic process automation (RPA).
  • Experience with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence) and working effectively with geographically dispersed teams.
  • Experience with AWS cloud environments (GovCloud a plus), including infrastructure, networking, and security policy configuration.
  • Experience developing and deploying applications in DoD environments (DISA experience a plus), meeting DoD security standards (e.g., STIGs), and producing requirements traceability, interface documents (IDDs/ICDs), and schedules.
  • Familiar with automated software testing pipelines (Ansible, Selenium, JMeter, JUnit, etc.).
