We're on the lookout for an innovative, data-savvy, and cloud-fluent Data-Driven Powertrain Software Validation Engineer to join our forward-thinking team. This isn't just about testing software; it's about being a critical part of our continuous improvement cycle, ensuring our powertrain control modules (the brains behind our engines and electric motors!) are robust, reliable, and always getting smarter. You'll be instrumental in validating cutting-edge software and then using real-world connected vehicle data, powered by Google Cloud and sophisticated SQL queries, to identify and address potential issues before they even become a problem.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
  • At least 2 years of dedicated experience in powertrain software validation.
  • Strong skills in the design, development, and validation of software using ANSI C (5+ years) and Python (2+ years).
  • Familiarity with software development using Simulink and Model-Based Design (1+ year).
  • Over 5 years of experience in testing and debugging software within automotive embedded systems.
  • A working knowledge of essential debugging and version control tools like Lauterbach debugger, Clearcase, GitHub, dSpace ControlDesk, and dSpace ConfigurationDesk.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with embedded controls software development or testing.
  • In-depth knowledge of Powertrain Control Systems.
  • Experience working with Powertrain Control Module Hardware.
  • Familiarity or experience with calibration processes.
  • Practical experience using dSpace Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) systems.
  • A solid understanding of basic engine controls principles and the operating principles of combustion engines.
  • Demonstrated excellent problem-solving techniques.
  • Proven experience working effectively with diverse teams and across organizational boundaries.
  • Hands-on experience using Google Cloud (or similar public cloud platforms), writing complex SQL queries, and creating impactful dashboards.

Responsibilities

  • Modernize Our Testing Ecosystem: Revamp our test environment, leading the charge to modernize and convert our current setup to the advanced dSpace SCALEXIO system.
  • Automate for Excellence: Design and implement automated processes for executing scripts and validating tests directly on the dSpace SCALEXIO bench.
  • Deep Dive into Requirements: Gather unit-level requirements for the foundational functions of both supplier-delivered low-level drivers and high-level drivers developed at Ford.
  • Craft Robust Test Cases: Develop and continuously update comprehensive test cases for driver functions.
  • Data-Driven Prevention & Cloud Power: Create insightful analytic dashboards using real-world connected vehicle data, leveraging Google Cloud and SQL queries.
