A Brief Overview Serves as an expert for the development of data collection tools, aggregation systems and reports and on-going management of data and data systems related to the division. The Data Coordinator for Neonatology will be accountable for coordinating chart extraction, data entry into clinical databases, and analysis to support critical care practices. This individual will utilize expert computer and clinical skills to ensure the accuracy of the data entered into the clinical databases and support the Division's efforts to provide data to clinicians for clinical inquiry, quality improvement projects or research. Under the guidance of team leader/manager, partners with clinicians, administrators and shared governance to identify and orchestrate production of the data needed for a population or initiative. This employee will work under the direction of the Division's leaders responsible for Quality Improvement and Informatics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree clinical informatics, sciences, math, statistics, healthcare management or other healthcare related degree Required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Access, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working with datasets, combining data from a multitude of sources.
  • Ability to convey complex or technical information in a manner that others can easily understand.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, work independently, take initiative and implement problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines.
  • Strong ethical conduct and ability to work with confidential and highly sensitive information.
  • Good interpersonal skills; ability to work with clinical leaders in the use of data for improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Data Collection
  • Identifies sources of regulatory, administrative and clinical data related to outcomes
  • Understands the clinical data that are extracted from patient charts and the data's relationship to the Clinical Databases
  • Consults with staff and assists in the development of data collection tools to support measurement plans.
  • Accesses data from various Hospital systems to prepare datasets.
  • Works collaboratively with other members of the Data Team to ensure the accuracy and integrity of data collection, entry and outcomes reporting.
  • Organizes data into useful datasets and databases, as appropriate.
  • Professional Engagement and Collaboration
  • Collaborates with external registries to ensure data entered meets the requirements of the database.
  • Collaborate with Digital & Technology Services staff to ensure accuracy of data (i.e., assist in troubleshooting). Understands the platform for the NICU Clinical Databases and coordinates the technical transfer of data among the NICU Clinical Databases.
  • Represents CHOP in national registry conferences, committees and leadership groups. Collaborate with other data coordinator roles to establish best practices and definitions of data elements.
  • Functions as a resource for clinicians using the information from the databases, providing periodic overviews of available data including outcomes reports, as requested, in a timely manner.
  • Participates collaboratively in staff meetings, committees, projects and teams to resolve conflicts and meet institutional goals. (i.e. Data Management Working Group)
