Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Data Center Technician or related field.
  • Experience with troubleshooting fiber optic circuits
  • Experience working in live fiber environments
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be detail-oriented and quality-driven
  • Ability to lift heavy network equipment
  • Ability to perform work on a ladder
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required

Responsibilities

  • Perform Layer 1 troubleshooting of fiber optic circuits
  • Use EXFO OTDR to analyze fiber faults, reflections, and distance-to-failure
  • Take and interpret light levels (dBm readings) and understand acceptable loss thresholds
  • Verify and identify fiber before disconnecting circuits
  • Utilize non-intrusive testers to confirm live traffic/light presence
  • Work with various optics including SFPs, QSFPs, QSFP28 & More
  • Perform maintenance windows with Customers, Carriers & Remote NOC Teams
  • Work safety in live fiber environments without impacting production circuits
  • Document test results and troubleshooting findings
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while working in various environments
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment
