About The Position

Datawiz, a GTSC company, seeks a highly experienced and motivated Data Center Technician, System Administrator. This position is in Arlington, Virginia. Position Summary: The Data Center Technician is responsible for supporting and maintaining enterprise IT infrastructure which can comprise VDI environments, datacenter operations, and system monitoring. This role involves handling incidents, performing maintenance, coordinating with technical teams, and ensuring reliable operation of systems across production and development environments.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Information Technology or related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 2 - 4 years of experience in systems administration, datacenter operations, or VDI management.
  • Experience with Windows server environments, virtualization technologies, and system monitoring tools.
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes and incident management best practices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot OS, network, and hardware issues across multiple platforms.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage audits, reports, and compliance activities.
  • Security clearance eligibility as required by the federal contract.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily walkthroughs of data centers and IDF closets to ensure environmental and equipment integrity.
  • Support hardware lifecycle processes including perform hardware installations, replacements, maintenance, and decommissions (servers, switches, routers, storage, UPS, PDUs, etc.).
  • Inventory management of hardware to include validating physical location, asset auditing and reporting, planning rack space, monitoring power and cooling usage.
  • Manage rack space, power, and cooling schedules.
  • Escort third-party vendors for installations (including non-data center related), warranty cases, and support activities. Open and manage incident and task tickets in ServiceNow.
  • Monitor production, test, and quality systems for alerts; respond to system messages and support emails.
  • Generate stakeholder reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly) and maintain shift turnover documentation.
  • Coordinate with Data Center Operations teams for planned and emergency maintenance.
  • Execute support for unplanned system failures and coordinate RMA asset retrievals and replacements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
