The Data Center Support Engineer is responsible for the operational support of Enterprise Data Center and Infrastructure Systems for all Peckham locations and facilities. This includes performing direct systems support, team design and project participation, and coordination responsibilities with peer Peckham IT staff, contractors and vendors. This position works closely with the Peckham IT Network team and other Peckham IT service areas. This position reports to the Network and Data Center Infrastructure Data Center Engineer Coordinator.

  • Responsible for deploying, administration, maintenance, monitoring and reporting of assigned Peckham Data Center and Enterprise Infrastructure Systems, including: Compute Equipment (Server Hosts, Server Host Chassis, Host Appliances) Data Storage Equipment (SAN storage, NAS Storage, vSAN storage) Virtual Hypervisor Software Virtual Guest Virtual Machines Cabinet, Rack and Power (UPS, PDU, Batteries, Fiber and Cabling, Environmental Monitors, etc.)
  • Maintain required licenses and support renewals through manufacturers and third-party providers for Enterprise Data Center and Infrastructure Systems, including: Cabinet, Rack and Power Compute Equipment Data Storage Equipment Virtual Hypervisor Software Virtual SAN Software Backup and Imaging Software Network Equipment (Route, Switch, Firewall)
  • Maintain high level server and network documentation used for maintaining and support of all Enterprise Data Center supported systems.
  • Coordinate with vendors, Peckham Business Lines and Peckham IT staff for project scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of Enterprise Data Center Systems for all Peckham facilities.
  • Perform Peckham IT Department hardware and software quoting and procurement tasks including communication with technology vendors, documentation of purchases, documentation of licenses and maintaining inventories of Peckham IT technical supplies.
  • Perform Peckham Data Center and Enterprise system tasks as assigned, including creation of VMWare virtual machines, server configuration, and hardware maintenance.
  • Participate in, and support, Peckham IT Department projects and initiatives with fellow service area staff.
  • Utilize and support network monitoring, logging, and scanning systems.
  • Utilize Peckham IT departmental management and change control systems.
  • Attend training and maintain certifications as necessary to develop, demonstrate and maintain skills and support Peckham client contracted-services requirements.
  • Provide Peckham IT Department management with timely status and reporting information as assigned within areas of responsibility.
  • Maintain and adhere to the Peckham organizational standard practices and policies.
  • Produce, update and maintain Peckham Information Technology Department procedures, policies and documentation.
  • Perform knowledge transfer and mentoring for Peckham IT Department staff.
  • Comply with the Peckham organizational privacy and security policies.
  • Participate in after-hours support and project work along with on-call rotations as necessary and assigned.

  • Three years’ experience in information technology or related field.
  • Multi-vendor experience with Data Center Hardware Compute technologies and associated software and management tools.
  • Multi-vendor experience with Data Center SAN/Storage technologies and associated software and management tools.
  • Multi-vendor experience with Data Center hypervisor technologies and associated software and management tools.
  • Multi-vendor and multi-technology Operating System Deployment, BIOS-level software Deployment, and Patch Management.
  • Multi-vendor experience with Data Center power, power-backup systems, environmental systems and associated software and management tools.
  • Basic understanding of enterprise local and wide area networking.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen due to government contracts and federal security clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems or related field, or equivalent progressive job experience and responsibilities.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows server, network and cloud computing technologies
  • Experience with VMWare virtual computing technologies
  • Experience with Veeam and BackupExec backup technologies
  • Experience with Dell server and storage technologies
