About The Position

VEIR i s preparing for rapid growth as we seek to solve critical challenges facing data center developers, electricity generation developers, and utilities around the world. VEIR is seeking a Data Center Solutions Engineer - Low Voltage to join our Product Team. We’re looking for someone who is excited to work on innovative new hardware technologies and communicate their value and applications to all levels both internally and externally to establish business relationships, market strategies, and collaborative partnerships. The Product Team is responsible for overseeing the requirements, development and lifecycle of VEIR’s superconducting product. Through close collaboration with the commercial and engineering groups, the Product Team ensures that the products developed meet the customers’ needs and align with VEIR’s business goals. The Team determines which product features are most valuable and impactful by evaluating factors such as the voice of the customer, market trends, technical feasibility and addressable segment size.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in designing and/or delivering utility or data center power delivery solutions at low and/or medium voltage.
  • Hands on experience evaluating competing hardware solutions for power transmission for utilities or data centers.
  • Experience working with, major utilities, hyperscale data center owners, co-location companies, Design-builders, general contractors, and the major electrical OEM’s.
  • Knowledgeable of applicable codes and standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA110, UL, CSA, ANSI, IEC) that will apply to VEIR’s products.
  • A bachelor's or master’s degree from an ABET accredited Electrical or Architectural Engineering program (Power Systems preferred).
  • Familiarity with power distribution equipment and be capable of analyzing single-line diagrams, electrical protection schemes, and transfer controls.
  • Proficient in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and electrical modeling tools like ETAP or Cyme.
  • Outstanding communicator (written and verbal).
  • Highly motivated, self-starter who is detail-oriented with a positive approach to problem solving.
  • Able to work autonomously, with limited direction AND collaboratively across different departments, stakeholders, and customers to launch new products and continuously evaluate the performance of existing products.
  • Driven by results - you gauge your success in measurable positive impact (not in how much you check off the to do list) and know how to ruthlessly prioritize.
  • Able to manage a diverse set of opinions, advice, and recommendations and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Highly curious and solutions-oriented, and excel at deconstructing complex problems into manageable components to develop effective solutions

Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep understanding of VEIR’s technology and how it can be deployed in utility or data center applications.
  • Identify, iterate, and refine the VEIR technology applications and opportunities for utility or data center applications.
  • Refine and streamline how VEIR articulates the value proposition for our solution for utility or data center customers.
  • Create single-line diagrams for VEIR’s system integration test environment, a flagship deployment for demonstrating the value our systems offer to customers.
  • Conduct a competitive analysis comparing VEIR’s solutions to conventional alternatives.
  • Provide customer support for highly technical customer engagements.
  • Develop and model reference designs for VEIR’s solutions within utility and/or data center environments.
  • Identify and specify the equipment that VEIR will interface with in reference designs and propose their settings.
  • Collaborate with VEIR’s engineering team to develop customer-facing documentation, commissioning procedures, installation guides, and user manuals.
  • Support the certification process for integrating VEIR’s systems into data center applications according to industry standards.
  • Develop detailed system designs for early pilot implementations.
  • Work closely with external engineering and contractor partners to finalize construction documents for early pilot projects.
