Team Description: The Data Center Operations (DCO) organization provides physically secure, environmentally stable, high availability data center services. In conjunction with the rest of the Enterprise Technology organization, DCO delivers managed facility, server, storage, authentication, and DNS services to Enterprise Technology clients. The DCO team plays a dual role, managing the data center physical environment, its assets and providing break/fix support as directed by the Platform and or Network Operations team. What You’ll Do: The Data Center Site Manager is responsible for managing and performing the Data Center Operations services at the New York and New Jersey data center locations (currently 3 locations). This includes both collocation and owned data center facilities. This role will both manage and directly perform infrastructure and IT Equipment installations, moves, changes, decommission, repair and incident response for our clients. Primary purpose of this role is to oversee the delivery of physically secure, high availability data center services through the use of modern platforms and facilitate open access to information for our New York and New Jersey data center locations. This role will both manage and directly perform infrastructure and IT Equipment installations, moves, changes, decommission, repair and incident response for our clients. The Data Center Site Manager will be the primary contact and is accountable for all data center services provided by Data Center Operations for the New York and New Jersey locations. This role will either manage, directly perform or act as the liaison to the appropriate teams to deliver all Data Center Operations Services; vendor management, mechanical, electrical, plumping (MEP) and fire-life-safety (FLS), physical security, Infrastructure Moves, Adds and Changes (IMAC), logistics (shipping, receiving & storage), eWaste, media destruction and data center design consultation. The Data Center Site Manager will work with the rest of the Data Center Operations staff, clients, peer teams and work on independent projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years data center support experience.
  • Knowledge & practical experience in data center infrastructure systems including cabling, infrastructure and IT equipment installation and environmental monitoring, power, cooling, fire suppression and physical security.
  • Solid knowledge of data center infrastructure, physical security operations, Data Center Infrastructure Management tools, IT equipment installation, general application and system support.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to withstand walking, standing, stooping, bending and climbing on ladders for an extended period of time with reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 75 lbs. with reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to participate in On-Call rotation and fill in for others if needed.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work aloft.
  • Ability to work in cold temperature environments.
  • Ability to maneuver pallet jacks and lift heavy objects.
  • Ability to pull and install cabling.
  • Strong communication skills; oral, written and listening.

Nice To Haves

  • 10 years data center support experience.
  • Expert knowledge & practical experience in data center infrastructure systems including cabling, infrastructure and IT equipment installation and environmental monitoring, power, cooling, fire suppression and physical security.
  • Advanced knowledge of data center infrastructure, physical security operations, Data Center Infrastructure Management tools, IT equipment installation, application/system support and project management.
  • Proficiency with ServiceNow, Patch Manager, Power IQ, MS Power Point and MS Excel
  • Preferred to be certified or affiliated with: ITIL V4, ITIL Practitioner, or Master The Green Grid Uptime Institute 7x24 Exchange ASHRAE
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the Enterprise Technology Customer Base and to Enterprise Technology team members.
  • Manage and directly perform vendor & contract management (Colocation provider services & service providers).
  • Manage and directly perform Financial Management – Annual Operating Plan (budget), requests for proposals, quotes, purchase orders, invoicing, forecasts and accruals.
  • Manage and directly perform monitoring, auditing & reporting – capacity, activity, adherence to operating level agreements, etc.
  • Manage and directly perform documentation management – creation, maintenance and retirement of Policies, Procedures, Processes, tool data, etc.
  • Manage and directly perform Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) updates and reporting.
  • Manage and directly perform 24x7x365 IMAC Services (Infrastructure and IT Equipment installations, changes, decommissions, repairs and incident support)
  • Manage and directly perform material management and ordering.
  • Manage and perform maintenance activities.
  • Manage and directly perform change activities.
  • Manage and directly perform logistics (shipping, receiving and storage).
  • Manage and directly perform eWaste and media destruction.
  • Manage and directly perform on-call support and 1-hour on-site response for incidents or support issues.
  • Manage and directly perform support for business continuity preparation, site “ride out” support for hurricanes and other threats, and damage assessments and recovery support.
  • Manage and directly perform data center design consultation (provide clarification, guidance, current processes, procedures and standard in support of data center design, engineering and operations.
  • Manage and directly perform training.
  • Manage assigned workflow tasks in order to provide timely turnaround to clients, timely resolution and/or escalation of client issues.
  • Interface with other team members in the Enterprise Technology organization to support deployments, technology evaluations, or other efforts requiring Data Center Operations involvement.
  • Troubleshoot, document and process technical issues using the Enterprise Technology ticketing system.
  • Maintain a level of professionalism while engaging with clients.
